National Movement Members Condemn Current Situation in the Country

December 18, 2012
“Dictators’ regimes have never reigned for a long time in any country world and neither Bidzina Ivanishvili’s regime will survive here,” said Vakhtang Balavadze, Imereti regional governor at the special briefing on December 15.

Balavadze met media representatives together with MP Giorgi Tevdoradze from the parliamentary minority (former majoritarian candidate of Kutaisi) and condemned situation in self-governmental bodies in the regions of Georgia.

“Ongoing situation in the regions of Georgia resemble political repressions. Detention of the former head of Samtredia district police department Zviad Oboladze is enough to speak about political repressions. He was arrested for absurd accusation. Coalition Georgian Dream started to realize their pre-election promises but it does not connect with their social projects but with arbitrary detentions. Zviad Oboladze is Kakhi Kaladze’s [vice-prime minister and Minister of Energy of Georgia] personal prisoner. During pre-election period Kaladze promised him he would be arrested after Georgian Dream wins elections,” said Giorgi Tevdoradze.

Police officers arrested Oboladze for the abuse of professional authority several days ago. National Movement’s members do not agree with the accusation and claim that Oboladze is victim of personal revenge like chairmen of municipal boards and governors of different regions, who have to work in unbearable conditions, are persecuted and arrested.
