Released political prisoner Irakli Topuridze dies

Released political prisoner Irakli Topuridze died this morning, human rights defender Nana Kakabadze told InterpressNews.

Topuridze was convicted for participation in the Mukhrovani riot.

“Political prisoner Irakli Topuridze died this morning. He was released on 13 January. He was in inhuman conditions in prison,” Kakabadze said.

According to her, President Mikheil Saakashvili is responsible for all this as he could not ensure protection of human rights in the country.

190 political prisoners were released under amnesty law on 13 January.
