Noisy Conference of the Georgian Dream in Lanchkhuti

February 19, 2013

Conference of the Georgian Dream was held in noise in Lanchkhuti. Several delegates said the ballot was impartial and all votes were not counted. Their statement caused noise in the hall.

Head of MP Temur Chkhaidze’s local bureau Gogi Gegiadze was elected to chair the local office. First incident after his election occurred because several women declared their votes were not counted.

Elected members of the bureau of the local office are: Gia Macharashvili (brother-in-law of the MP Temur Chkhaidze), Maka Kvirkvelia, Soso Bolkvadze, Nino Kheladze, and Guram Chubinidze.

They also nominated the delegates, who shall attend the conference in Tbilisi and they are: Temur Chkhaidze, Gogi Gegiadze, Lado Nanadze, Dato Sheizashvili, Zaal Sanadze, Guram Chubinidze, Guram Kereselidze, Beso Kupradze, Zurab Karchava, Aleko Sarishvili, Gia Macharashvili, Soso Bolkvadze and Shota Pirtskhalaishvili.

The conference was about to finish when a delegate from the Tskaltsminda village, teacher of the local public school Rusudan Megrelishvili requested permission to make a speech. She said the ballot was impartially conducted and candidates were elected beforehand.

“What was it - Communist elections or assembly of the National Movement? What is going on here; you had preliminarily settled everything and why did you ask us to arrive here from villages? What was our function in this conference? If you were not going to ask our opinions and had already elected the candidate, why did you need this formality? Everything happened in the old way except mentioning Bidzina Ivanishvili’s name several times. I see same faces. I wonder what you had against Gia Goguadze (National Movement’s majoritarian candidate)? Once, you might all were members of the National Movement but that is the issue – what you did before elections?” Rusudan Megrelishvili said.

Her speech caused different reaction in the hall. Several people demanded the woman to leave the hall and she left saying she would protest this fact. As we later found out, she is relative of Bidzina Ivanishvili’s brother Adiko Ivanishvili and is going to personally inform the prime-minister about the incidents that occurred in the Lanchkhuti conference.
