Maia Panjikidze: “President Does Not Sign The Order Of Ambassadors’ Appointment”.

March 11, 2013

President of Georgia does not sign the order of ambassadors’ appointment approved by the Parliament.  Maia Panjikidze, Minister of Foreign Affairs stated following to TV company Imedi.

According to the minister, ambassador candidacies passed parliament procedures successfully and they were supported by the opposition members at the plenary meeting. In spite of this, President does not sign the order of any ambassador’s appointment.

“Parliament of Georgia approved appointment of 9 ambassadors presented by the President of Georgia. These 9 ambassadors were supported by the opposition members too. If the Parliament of Georgia expresses Georgians’ will and if the President says that he will not interfere in working of new government and he intends to dismiss neither new government nor the Parliament, why does not he respect the Parliament decision, when those ambassadors were presented by him? They passed all procedures successfully in the Parliament”,-stated Maia Panjikidze.

According to her, it makes her think that President and the former government want to maintain positions they have in foreign countries to have opportunities to spread false information against the new government and the new leader of Georgia in case of absence of new ambassador. “I have no other explanation”,-stated Maia Panjikidze.
