Human Rights Center is conducting a court monitoring on cases of former government officials

Human Rights Center is conducting a  court monitoring on cases of  former government officials. The project is undergoing with the financial support  of the  US fund “National Contribution  for Democracy”.

Within the framework of the project, lawyers (monitors)  of  Human Rights Center  observe court  proceedings on cases of  a high  public interests. A project journalist writes a review on court proceedings which is published on a  web-portal of Human Rights Center: http://www.humanrights.ge/.

Monitoring began from the middle of  February and includes   resonant cases such as  cases  of  Bacho Akhalaia, Tengiz Gunava, Nika Gvaramia and other former officials.

The goal of monitoring is to promote  a  court transpareny and increase of  public awareness, also to observe how a principle of a fair trial is observed by courts.
