Cars of Eco-Migrants from Tsalka Fined

May 17, 2013
Yesterday eco-migrants from Tsalka held an assembly near Batumi City Hall. Mini buses, they had come to Batumi were fined with 10-10 GEL by “City Park”.  The eco-migrants demanded to cancel the fine.

According to eco-migrants, they had permission to hold an assembly near Adjara government office and police allowed them to stop mini buses in the area. Having heard about fining their cars, they moved to the office of the Batumi City Hall.

“We came to Adjara for help. Greek people returned to the houses where we lived in Tsalka. Instead assisting us they sticked fine-receipts on our cars though patrol police had allowed us to stay here. What was that? One law enforcement body issued permission on us and second fined. We do not know what to do. We urge the City Hall to cancel our fines or pay it from the budget. 9 cars were fined and it is 90 GEL in total,”-said eco-migrant Mevlud Vashakmadze.

After demonstration, lawyer Suliko Shventidze of Batumi city council said the council envisaged social conditions of the eco-migrants and cancelled fines.

It is noteworthy that parking in Batumi is paid. Eco-migrants’ cars had not paid parking fee.
