Lawyer Ramin Papidze: “If Bank Accounts Are Sequestered, I Will Give Up Georgian Citizenship”

August 21, 2013

Lawyer Ramin Papidze requests the Minister of Finances and Prime Minister to cancel their request on executing obligation of the advocate company Ltd Ramin Papidze and Partners before the bank.

Ramin Papidze told Interpresnews that his debt amounted to more than 6 000 lari because of fines the judges imposed on him during trials.

“I request not to sequester our bank accounts. The Enforcement Bureau shall not deduct the revenues from the bank account of the company Ramin Papidze and Partners. The debt was collected in 2008-2001 during my advocacy activities when judges imposed fines on me during trials,” Ramin Papidze noted.

The lawyer said if the company’s bank accounts are sequestered, he will give up Georgian citizenship and request political shelter.

“I associate this fact with my working on Roin Shavadze’s assassination case and my public statements about physical assault of a citizen by Medea Vasadze, member of the Adjara Supreme Council. If the execution is launched and funds are deducted from the company account, I will remain without any finances. It will be evaluated as interference in the advocacy activities by the government. For that reason, I will be compelled to give up Georgian citizenship and seek political shelter in other country,” Ramin Papidze said.
