After Vacation City Mayor Resigned

September 12, 2013

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

Despite the recommendation of the Inter-Agency Task Force for local self-governments to work in stable situation before presidential elections, personnel changes continue at Kutaisi City Court. Competition commission is summing up test results, which was held after reorganization on August 20 for the selection of head/deputy heads of services and departments (52 vacant positions in total). In addition to that, Kutaisi City Mayor also resigned yesterday.

City Council members raised question of Dimitry Kopalyani from the position soon after he occupied the position. They held a special briefing on the issue but on August 22, the mayor took a holiday and their plan failed.

On September 11, Dimitry Kopalyani returned to the office but after his meeting with the vice-mayors and council members, he wrote resignation application and quitted job.

After his 22-year-long working in US,  Kopalyani became Kutaisi City Mayor on June 5, 2013 as a result of competition.
