Tbilisi City Hall Spent about Half Million Lari on Snacks and in Restaurants

Tbilisi City Hall spent about half million lari on snacks and service in restaurants –chairman of the fraction Georgian Dream-Democrat Georgia at Tbilisi City Council Zaza Gabunia said at the press-conference.

He presented documents sealed up by the Tbilisi City Hall’s administration, which prove that in 2012 and in 2013 before July the City Hall spent about half million lari on snacks and service at restaurants – the exact figure is 484 255 lari.

At the press-conference Zaza Gabunia spoke about several concrete examples. Namely, in January 2012 the City Hall hosted 3 400 chairmen of fellowships and the local budget allocated 79 616 lari for the purpose. Zaza Gabunia said on January 16-26, that time majority of the City Council – National Movement introduced amendments to the budget and they celebrated this fact in the restaurant for 80 000 lari. Also, in March of 2012 the City Hall spent 29 591 lari for the same purpose; it repeated on April 26, 2012 and the City Hall spent 24 944 lari to serve 120 persons. On May 17-19, 2012, 25 000 lari was spent for 1 300 people. According to the agreement signed on December 31, 2012 Zaza Gabunia said that the City Hall paid 11 640 lari for the furshet for 250 people. 

“These cases demonstrate that luxurious furshets and dinners were organized for the party activists and budget funds were spent for the party interests. In order to assess the reasonability of these actions, more precisely, to evaluate it in reference to the Article 7.2 of the Organic Law of Georgia on Political Unions of Citizens, we believe that law enforcement bodies shall study these cases,” Zaza Gabunia said.

He added that soon he will forward the documents sealed up by the City Hall’s administration to the prosecutor’s office. Gabunia added that he hold documents of not only furshets but also on other unreasonable expenditures from the city budget that will be published eventually.
