Margvelashvili’s Closing Meeting with Shida Kartli Population

October 24, 2013

Beka Asanidze, Shida Kartli

On October 18, Georgian Dream’s Presidential Candidate – Giorgi Margvelashvili met local population in Gori. He said if Georgian people vote for him on October 27, Georgia will win and not only any concrete presidential candidate.

“I know that we will win but if second round of elections is needed, I will not participate in it. Majority of our population supports us but apparently part of society is still unaware what kind of country they want to live in and where the country shall go. So, they ask whether second round of elections will be needed. It is the same to ask whether you want to return to the country of monopolies, government controlled judiciary, tortured prisoners in penitentiary establishments – so this question is insulting because I know you do not want to return back. I know that we will win on October 27 but if the second round is held, I will not participate in it,” Giorgi Margvelashvili stated during his meeting with the population in front of Gori Drama Theatre.

Prime-Minister Bidzina Ivanishvili also made statement about the second round of the elections. He said majority of Georgian population will vote for Giorgi Margvelashvili on October 27. PM is so sure in the victory of the GD’s presidential candidate that he said about 60% of voters will support Margvelashvili on the Election Day.

Teachers and pupils of public schools met Georgian Dream’s Presidential Candidate. People were mobilized by mini-buses two hours before. Supporters were brought by mini-buses in front of the Shida Kartli regional administration building from villages; part of them claimed that they had voluntarily come to the meeting and personally paid for the transportation. Others said Georgian Dream had funded their transportation. It is noteworthy that people were mobilized in the administrative buildings of the village territorial entities.
