Humanrights.ge learned that personnel of kindergartens had their labor contracts ceased and 30 people became unemployed. They cannot hide discontent with us and have complaints against the district administration. They said while local authority allocates money for the football club three times from the local budget, it is unfair to dismiss them from jobs.
Humanrights.ge asked chairperson of the Lanchkhuti municipal board Amiran Gigineishvili to comment on the issue: “Their complaints are absolutely fair but to tell the truth, unless we funded the football club now, it would have stopped functioning. I know it is not solution but we do our best to find 11 000 lari necessary to renew labor contracts with these people till the end of the year. Despite our effort, if we fail, they will necessarily return them to their working places from next January,” Gigineishvili said.
This year, money was allocated for the local football club Guria three times; last portion was 85 000 lari. Amiran Gigineishvili said the salary arrears of football players were covered with the money. “We should say that it was first time when we funded the team in the supreme league; though money from the local budget was allocated two times before. In the past we covered debts accumulated during their plays in the first league,” Gigineishvili told humanrights.ge and added that district administration had taken loan from the bank to cover debts. The municipal board still pays portions of the debt. “We were going to take loan this year too but banks refused because football club shall take the loan and not the municipal board; but banks did not trust to the club; we still pay portions of the loan that finally amounted to half million lari,” chairman of the municipal board said.
