Ucha Kandelaki’s candidature is also discussed for the position of the Kakheti Regional Governor. 31-year-old Ucha Kandelaki is member of the Georgian Dream’s human rights committee. “I cannot say anything particular. Internal circles really discuss the topic; I am among other candidates too but cannot say anything in advance,” Ucha Kandelaki said.

Originally he is from Gurjaani. He is son of Zura Kandelaki, former chairman of Gurjaani office of the New Rights. His mother has been head of Culture Service at Gurjaani district administration since 2012 parliamentary elections.

Besides him, Telavi district former governor Zurab Kurashvili is also considered for the position. Mirian Karaulashvili, close friend of Tamaz Tamazashvili, PM-to-be Irakli Garibashvili’s father-in-law, is the third candidate for the position though he did not confirm the information.
