Shida Kartli Governor Resigned

November 20, 2013

Lado Bichashvili, Shida Kartli

President’s Attorney in Shida Kartli Zurab Chkheidze filed resignation application on November 16, a day before the president’s inauguration. He thanked to his colleagues and journalists and resigned; he noted he was going to join civil sector.

Zurab Chkheidze: “I want to thank to the President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, who managed to do much for the country and allowed many people to participate in the country’s development process. It was huge honor for me to be part of this process and I want to thank to Mr. Vano Merabishvili because, you might not know that the most funds for Shida Kartli were allocated when he was Prime Minister.”

Zurab Chkheidze wished success to the new regional governor though left hard heritage to him; namely there is no money for fuel and bonuses in the 2013 budget for the regional administration. “The funds for bonuses expired in September 2013. The Ministry of Finance decided to reduce the bonus funds in the beginning of the year. The fuel funds were also reduced. So, I appeal to the Minister of Finance to allocate money for transportation. I have been purchasing fuel with my money for the last two months,” Chkheidze said.

Chkheidze said he will return back to the nongovernmental organization. Before going to government, he founded Gori Center for Civic Development. He intends to continue his activities in the same field.
