“We will return in government” – UNM Members Presented Future Plans to Their Activists in Kutaisi

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

“Our purpose is to maximally speed up the process and work in the depth to learn the needs of every citizen of Georgia. Our main purpose is to return in government and we will do our best to do it,” the meeting between the leaders of the United National Movement and Kutaisi activists went on under this enthusiasm.

MPs Giorgi Vashadze and Giorgi Tevdoradze from the UNM met local UNM team, their supporters and youth branch members.

Future plans, European future, internal party regrouping, more contact with people, primers for the selection of candidates for the positions of city mayors and district governors – these issues were discussed during the UNM meeting in Kutaisi.

“Our goal is to make United National Movement an open platform for every person or group of people sharing our opinions, where they will have opportunity to actively participate in the political life and country development. We think, people will realize themselves and our political party will become more successful and result-oriented,” Giorgi Vashadze said.

He clarified the idea of the platform to their supporters and said that political parties are closed systems in Georgia. One and the same people are members of the political parties and everything seems a bit monopolized.

“We want to open the door of our political party and allow people in this political process to create more competitive and healthier environment. We believe, opinion of every person on different issues is very important,” Giorgi Vashadze said.

UNM leaders could not avoid criticism of the current government and besides speaking about their future plans, their main accents fell on the style and methods of the Georgian Dream’s governance. Vashadze said current government is weak and cannot rule the country. “Self-justification and postponing today’s work for tomorrow is their style of work. They know they will never become strong politicians. So they try to weaken us too. However, I want to assure you and them too, that they will never manage it. They, unlike us, are self-confident incapable people (we were self-confident capable people). Our main purpose is to repeatedly become ruling power of the country and will do our best for that. Internal democracy and free system of governance will assist us to achieve our goals; we have already started work in this direction,” Vashadze said.

He also spoke about the primer to select candidates for the city mayors and district governors and promised UNM will select candidates in Kutaisi and everywhere through primer.
