Eighth Fraction Created within Gurjaani Municipal Board

February 13, 2014

Mikheil Mamalashvili, Kakheti

Eighth fraction Civil Initiatives was created within the Gurjaani municipal board. Three deputies joined the fraction and Paata Jokhadze will chair it. Only chairman will have salary in the fraction and it will be 1 350 lari per month. The local budget will spend 129 600 lari on eight fractions a year.

Chairman of Gurjaani municipal board Avtandil Zardiashvili does not exclude possibility that fractions are created for high salaries; however, according to the law, board member can establish a fraction and nobody can prohibit him/her to do it.

“I have inquired about the activities of the fractions, and learned that they are quite active; they hold sessions and relevant protocols are prepared. They are actively involved in the work of the municipal board,” Avtandil Zardiashvili said.

He added that there are three deputies in the municipal board, who are not members of any fractions yet and can create new one in future. However, Avtandil Zardiashvili added it is more unlikely to happen because those three deputies have different political affiliations.

Before 2012 Parliamentary Elections, there were three fractions in Gurjaani municipal board. Now, the following fractions work in the board: “Respublikelebi”, “Gurjaani,” “Democratic Georgia,” “Industry will save Georgia,” “Kakheti – Wine Road”, “National Movement,” “Majoritarians” and “Civil Initiatives.”
