Second conference of the Georgian Dream was held in noisy environment in Gori. Election of the new chairman of the GD’s regional organization was on the agenda. Delegates gathered in the Gori Drama Theatre to support Nino Zurabishvili on the position. About ten members of the GD protested ongoing polls outside and spoke about internal controversy in the local organization of the Georgian Dream.

Vladimer Shugliashvili: “Previous and current chairmen ignored these people. 120 out of 150 party members are new people; they have not done anything for the party; they have not participated in our struggle. But now we are left outside. We should also participate in the elections of organization chairman! They have brought their people to collect more mandates.”

Minister of Energy Kakhi Kalakadze and leader of parliamentary majority Giorgi Volski also attended the conference. Government representatives met GD members gathered in front of the theatre and promised to find out the situation.

Giorgi Volski from the parliamentary majority: “They express discontent saying they did not participate in active processes. We will find out everything in details. Nobody shall be left beyond the process. I think it is some misunderstanding and we will resolve the problem. I know these people; they were active during pre-election campaign.”

Nino Zurabishvili: “There is no controversy. There are about 1 300 members in the local organization and it is natural that people have different opinions. Some of them are radical and there is nothing unusual in it.”

134 out of 150 delegates attended the conference of the political union Georgian Dream Democratic Georgia. They unanimously elected Nino Zurabishvili to the position of the chairwoman of the Gori office.

Nino Zurabishvili, chairwoman of the regional organization of the Georgian Dream Democratic Georgia. “We will try to attract more activists and supporters to make our organization stronger. Upcoming local election is our main priority and we hope for victory.”

Kakhi Kaladze, Minister of Energy: “Today, new chairperson of the regional organization was elected at the conference. I want to wish Ms. Nino Zurabishvili success in her work and I am sure we will do much good for Gori district and for entire Georgia. Conferences will be held in the capital and other districts too.”

Kakhi Kaladze noted in his conversation with journalists that there was little misunderstanding during conference; everything will be resolved and every supporter will actively participate in the activities of the Georgian Dream.
