“We have right to know truth,” “I do not want to be afraid of living in my city,” “Timely and Impartial Investigation!” “No to Violence!” Demonstration in support of 14-year-old girl was organized in Theatre Park on June 6 in Gori.

Local nongovernmental organizations Friendship Bridge – Kartlosi and Coalition for the Women’s Political Engagement organized the demonstration. Participants condemned violence against women and request prompt and impartial investigation into the harassment of underage girl.
Lia Chlachidze, demonstrator: Every resident of Gori requests impartial investigation into the crime and punishment of the harasser in accordance to the law. “

Mzia Vanishvili, demonstrator: “According to different versions girl was thrown out of the flat; or she was compelled to jump out; or somebody brought her to the entrance and left her – all in all she is in very bad conditions.”

The girl in unconscious conditions was in the entrance of the residential building at night. She had multiple injuries on the body. Initially she was taken to Gori hospital and then to Tbilisi.

Gori police department launched criminal investigation into the fact under Article 115 of the Criminal Code of Georgia – bringing to the point of suicide. Family members do not agree with the investigation version and claim that the girl is victim of violence and physical assault.

Police has already questioned several witnesses but has not arrested anybody yet.
