Human Rights Center to Observe 2014 Local Self-Government Elections

On June 15th of 2014 Human Rights Center will observe local self-governmental elections in the Kakheti region in the areas mostly settled by ethnic minorities as well as near conflict areas in Sachkhere municipality, Imereti region. The project is financially supported by Open Society – Georgia Foundation.

Human Rights Center was registered as a local observation organization by the 2013 May 31 decree of the Central Election Commission of Georgia. The organization will have 28 member mobile groups equipped with video-camera, who will document ongoing polling procedures.
Human Rights Center will prepare report regarding the results of monitoring. On the day of elections, Human Rights Center will keep updating information on its site – www.humanrights.ge   regarding the process of elections based on observations of its monitors.

Observers of Human Rights Center underwent a training regarding the electoral procedures within the frameworks of the project. The training was led by expert of electoral issues, Nina Khatiskatsi. 

On June 15, Human Rights Center will hold two press-conferences in the media center of nongovernmental organizations – at 13:00 pm and after the close of polling stations at 20:30 pm.
