Four-member delegation of Russian specialists visited Kakheti region. They conducted phyto-sanitary expertise of fruit and vegetable prepared for the export to Russia during few days. The procedure was carried out before the good was loaded in vehicles.

Only those fruit and vegetables were examined, which will be exported to Russia. The preliminary list looks as follows: tomatoes, cucumbers, cabbage, eggplant, cherry, cherries, apricots, peaches, plums, persimmons, kiwi and berries.

According to the Georgian National Food Agency, the visit of the delegation from "Rosselkhoznadzor" was planned during the negotiation between the Head of the Georgian National Food Agency Zurab Chekurashvili and deputy head of the Federal Service of Veterinary and Phito-Sanitary Supervision Alex Saurin.

“Before the export portions are formed, the product should pass phito-sanitary control, that will confirm that the Georgian product does not contain sanitary risks. The National Food Agency calls on farmers to refrain from voluntary export of fruit and vegetables to the Russian Federation and apply to special departments to take necessary procedures before export,” the statement of the Agency reads.
