Relatives of the Killed Person Could not Meet MP Beselia

November 12, 2014

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

Relatives of Jemal Shelia, killed in Gldani, held protest rally in front of the parliament building in Kutaisi. 21-year-old Shelia was killed in Gldani district of Tbilisi on December 24, 2013. Judge Giorgi Darakhvelidze at the Tbilisi City Court released the accused persons in the case (one of them amnestied prisoner) from the courtroom after nine-month imprisonment.

The relatives of Jemal Shelia request punishment of the murders and addressed to the chairperson of the Human Rights Committee at the Parliament for help.

“We do not request anything special. We just request impartial investigation and punishment of perpetrators. Everything happened in an opposite way – judge released murderers from the courtroom. Is it justice? Did we elect this government for the protection of murders?!” the relatives said.

The protesters requested meeting with the chairwoman of the Human Rights Committee at the Parliament of Georgia all day long but MP Eka Beselia did not meet them.
