Opposition member burnt Kutaisi draft budget in public

December 24, 2014
Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

Head of Imereti regional office of the political party Free Georgia Giorgi Tsulaia protested the 2015 draft budget of Kutaisi.

“This budget does not meet people’s interests; it aims to degrade the city. Local authority is not skilled enough to realize this fact. They do not listen to people, local population, who are much cleverer than they are,” Giorgi Tsulaia said and burnt draft of the local budget in front of the Kutaisi City Hall in protest.

Several days ago, he protested unreasonable expenditure of sums in the reserve fund of the Kutaisi City Hall and called on the relevant institutions to study the case.

As for the local budget, opposition members of the Kutaisi City Council also have remarks about it. Members of the National Movement clarify that their remarks about the budget were not envisaged in the financial document.

Local self-government adopted 2015 budget on December 19 and its total amount is 47, 555 400 lari.
