New Report of Human Rights Center – Freedom of Religion in Georgia, Problems and Recommendations

March 5, 2015
Human Rights Center published a report Freedom of Religion in Georgia – Problems and Recommendations. The report presents the findings from the project Promoting Freedom of Religion in Georgia, which were presented in the conference hall of Human Rights House Tbilisi on March 6. Representatives of local and international organizations, diplomatic corps accredited in Georgia and media organizations were invited to the presentation.

In the framework of the project, Human Rights Center studied various facts of religious intolerance and violation of freedom of religion, as well as instances of religious conflict and persecution on the grounds of victim’s religious belonging, including the facts observed in city of Kobuleti in Adjara region and in villages – Mokhe, Tchela and Plate – in Adigeni municipality. Monitoring also revealed signs of persecution on religious grounds against Jehovah witness.

The project was implemented by the financial support of Embassy of Canada.
