Repressive Law Kills – Demonstration near Parliament

14.05.2015

Shorena Kakabadze, Kutaisi

“The Law Kills Freedom,” “The Law Kills Dignity,” “The Law Kills Life,” “The Law Kills Future,” Georgian Network of Drug-Addicts held a rally with these slogans to protest current narco-policy in the country; more precisely they protested the bill initiated by the government.

The demonstration was held in front of the Parliament in Kutaisi on May 13; the participants handed the petition to law-makers.

“If the bill is passed, the repressive narco-policy, whose purpose is persecution and punishment of people, will not stop in Georgia. We petition you to postpone the discussion of the bill and ensure multi-sector dialogue with participation of state, international, civil and community sectors where legislative amendments oriented at real needs and European standards will be discussed,” it is an extract from the petition, which was sent to the Chairman of Parliament, chairmen of the Healthcare, Human Rights and Legal Committees of the Parliament.
