The Ministry of Economy asks transfer of four kindergarten buildings from the Gori City Hall, so they can legalize this space for internally displaced persons. At this moment, refugees are living temporarily in these four buildings. Gori City Hall rents five kindergarten buildings, for which 4000 lari are spent monthly from the local budget.

While discussing this issue, the deputies of the assembly said that self-government is not in that kind of economic  situation to gift immovable or movable properties to the ministry.

“We have no problems with IDPs, we do not support this issue only because we are renting 5 buildings and Gori City Hall cannot afford to give these buildings to the Ministry of Economy. Especially, when construction of residential buildings for IDPs has started in Gori. Until the construction is done, no one will be evicted them from the kindergartens,”- said the assembly member Tamar Tedliashvili.

Those IDPs, who ask for legalization of the building, attended the discussion at the assembly meeting. Failure of the subject was followed by their protest.

Those deputies who supported the subject, outlined that residential buildings established by the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation will not be enough. They speak about necessity of transferring kindergarten buildings, but according to the opposition, the Ministry should solve this problem and not the City Hall of Gori.

Deputy Chair of the Assembly, Nino Zurabishvili says that Gori City Hall has to provide a residential space for IDPs.

According to the representative of the opposition, Ramaz Ioseliani, the representatives of the self-government have to abstain from taking bonuses: “The assembly and City Hall has taken 180 thousand lari bonuses in a month. If they used this money purposefully, we would have built at least one kindergarten.

The subject of transferring kindergarten buildings to the Ministry of Economy has failed at the meeting. However, Gori City Hall, based on the request of the Ministry of Refugees and Accommodation, allocated a space to build three buildings at the territory of the factory.
