Opposition refused district governor to conduct easy purchase procedure

Gurjaani district administration allocated 55 000 lari from the reserve fund for the rehabilitation of the Akhasheni ravine damaged during the natural disaster. The question about cleaning of the ravine was discussed at the session of the municipal board.

The opposition members protested the proposal. They did not vote for the easy purchase procedures that means the district administration will have to announce tender competition for the companies to conduct rehabilitation works. “Only two houses were flooded during the natural disaster on August 22; for that reason, we thought it would be better to conduct easy procedures,” said Gia Misulashvili, chairman of the financial-budget commission of the Gurjaani municipal board.

Member of the United National Movement and municipal board Nika Nizharadze expressed discontent about the fact. 

“We did not support the proposal to purchase the service through easy procedures because we detected signs of corruption in it. Maybe somebody has personal interests in it, who does not wish to participate in the competition and meet some requirements. Thus, we did not support this proposal,” Nika Nizharadze said. 

Deputy from Kardenakhi village Simon Kochorashvili said after the natural disaster the central government forgot about Kakheti so the local authority tries to resolve local problems with their resources. However, the local authority had to announce tender to resolve this problem.

At the session, Gurjaani municipal board discussed the list of projects to be implemented in the municipality in 2016. According to their decision, 26 projects will be funded in Gurjaani in 2016.

Rehabilitation of the road in Kardenakhi is on the projects list for 2016 and 192 000 lari is envisaged for rehabilitation works.
