Before the elections of the Gori district organization’s chairman in the Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia, interim chairperson of the local organization Nino Zurabishvili left the mandate in the city council. Zurabishvili did not clarify motives of her decision and whether she intends to quit the political party too. During the local self-governmental elections Zurabishvili was number one candidate on the election list of the ruling party in the district. Now, it is unknown who will replace her in the city council. The Council will discuss the issue of suspending her authority at the April 1 session.

Next day after Zurabishvili left the mandate in the city council, on March 27, Georgian Dream – Democratic Georgia held a conference in the Gori Drama Theater, where Zurabishvili did not participate. Giorgi Totladze was elected to the position of the chairman in the local organization. The members of the political party, executive secretary Irakli Kobakhidze and Minister of Energy Kakhi Kaladze attended the conference.

“Today we finished conferences throughout the country. Currently, we held conference in Gori and Giorgi Totladze was elected to the position of the chairman of the Gori district organization of the Georgian Dream,” Irakli Kobakhidze said.

Giorgi Totladze was head of Kareli district organization of the Georgian Dream during 2012 parliamentary elections. In 2013 he was appointed to the position of the deputy regional governor but then resigned based on his personal application. Totladze still does not speak about the motives of his decision. However, reportedly he had conflict with the former regional governor Zurab Rusishvili.

After a while, Totladze joined the activities of the Georgian Dream; reportedly soon he will be appointed to the position of the vice regional governor however, after Zurab Rusishvili quitted the position of the governor, the Prime Minister has not yet appointed a new one.

“Our purpose is to empower Gori district organization of the Georgian Dream and to increase public trust to us,” Totladze said.

Shida Kartli regional governor Zurab Rusishvili resigned based on his personal application after his controversy with Gori district majoritarian MP and Gori district governor.
