On June 28, parents and relatives of 26-year-old Nika Sagirashvili, who has been missing for one month already, arrived in Ergneti village during the 67th round of the negotiations in the frame of the Incident Prevention and Response Mechanisms. They requested the Georgian and Ossetian parties to take concrete measures to identify the whereabouts of the missing man because as the mother claimed her son was in the detention setting in the occupied South Ossetia.

“Unless they find my son, the entire village will block the occupation line and find out his whereabouts. I am sure the Russian army arrested him and do not allow him go now. We heard shooting on the day when Nika disappeared for what I doubt he is either wounded or killed. The Georgian authority states they cannot look for my son in the occupied territory and what shall I do then? I cannot find my son here,” the mother of Nikoloz Sagirashvili Inga Bortsvadze said.

The representatives of the Georgian government asked the de-facto governmental officials of South Ossetia to get the video-footage from the cameras installed alongside the so-called administrative border and the head of the Ossetian delegation Davit Sanakoev agreed.

“We have received many applications about Sagirashvili. The parties discussed his case during Geneva talks too. We have not arrested him and he is not in our detention establishments. We are ready to get the video-footage from the border cameras,” Sanakoev said.

The deputy head of the information-analytic department of the State Security Service of Georgia Davit Kobakhidze said the Georgian party protested installment of banners and wire-fences alongside the border line. Also, they discussed facts of illegal arrest of Georgian citizens which occurred since previous meeting.
