September 19, 2016

Human Rights Center again expresses concern about ineffective response to the crime by the Marneuli district prosecutor’s office, which refers to premeditated sexual violence against underage pregnant girl.

Complex expertise conducted in the case, where Human Rights Center defends the victim, confirmed that she was raped by a relative of her husband. The victim’s side was notified about the expertise results on August 30 by the investigator.

In accordance to the information provided by the Marneuli district police department to Human Rights Center, 9 witnesses were questioned into the case. Regardless the fact, the harasser is still unpunished and there is threat that he will escape punishment.

Human Rights Center appeals the Chief Prosecutor’s Office of Georgia and requests to take all necessary measures to immediately impose charge on the person, who raped the underage pregnant girl.
