Human Rights Center prepared investigative and documentary films in partnership with the Tobacco Control Alliance

October 7, 2016
Human Rights Center prepared the documentary film Dragged Out Discussion in partnership with the Tobacco Control Alliance and Public Health Institute. The film tells the story of the discussion of the bills on the control the use of tobacco.

Human Rights Center hopes the 9th convocation of the Parliament of Georgia will adopt the important bills to control the use of tobacco.

Besides the mentioned movies, Human Rights Center prepared three investigative films:

I - Unpunished Trade - tells about the violations related with the tobacco trading. The Georgian Legislation strictly regulates the issues related with the tobacco realization. However, on the other hand it is the main issue how the law is implemented in practice.

II - Failed Control - in 2006, by ratifying the Convention on the Tobacco Control of the World Health Organization, the State took responsibility to ensure universal protection from the tobacco smoke within 5 years term, which expired on May 15, 2011. The state does not have a political will to make the tobacco control stricter.

III - Who lobbies tobacco industry  - the journalistic investigation exposes facts of lobby of the tobacco industry, illegal sponsorship and advertising by the tobacco companies in Georgia.
