On October 25, Gori municipality governor Davit Oniashvili and head of the Easter Europe Regional Development Center Tomash Makovski announced at the joint press-conference that the Easter European Development Foundation will invest 300 million Euro in Gori municipality to develop educational, tourist infrastructure, solid plural remains management, greenhouse farming, water and sewage systems.

“We want to share the experience of Poland. The Polish side will share the successful projects with the Gori municipality for free. A working group will be established, which will work on the projects to be implemented in Gori. Everything will be done for the welfare of the Georgian people. Tbilisi and Batumi are main cities in Georgia. But Gori is the center of Georgia and for that reason we will implement the pilot projects here,” the head of the Easter Europe Regional Development Center said at the press-conference.
The Polish delegation stayed in Gori several days; former Prime Minister of Poland Kazimierz Marchinkiev was head of the delegation.

“We hosted very important delegation from Poland under leadership of the former Prime Minister of Poland. Their experience is very important for us. Joint projects will significantly improve the life conditions of local population,” Gori municipality governor Davit Oniashvili said.

Gori municipality administration has already selected priority areas for the development of tourism – development of infrastructure in Ateni Gorge and creation relevant environment for tourists will be one of the main directions of the project. They also plan to open hostels, which will become source of income for locals.
