On January 13, at the session of the Gori Municipal Council, the fraction Republicans-Conservators fell apart because the members of the Republic Party – Vakhtang Berkatsashvili and Zviad Davitidze, left the party.

Berkatsashvili and Davitidze decided to leave the Republic Party after the parliamentary elections, though made statements after Davit Usupashvili also quitted the Republic Party. Davitidze and Berkatsashvili continue activities within the municipal council as independent deputies. After the fraction is abolished, they created a new fraction Unity together with Ilia Migrijanashvili, member of the Conservative Party.

“After leaving the Republic Party, we abolished the fraction too and established a new one – Unity; the same people are members of the latter. Zviad Davitidze is chairperson of the fraction,” Vakhtang Berkatsashvili told humanrights.ge.

Another issue was also discussed during the session, which is related with giving permission to the municipal administration to take a loan. The administration decided to take a loan of 521 814 GEL to purchase two special vehicles to transport hard oddments from the municipality. Majority of the deputies supported the initiative of the administration. Council chairman Kostantine Tavzarashvili said with the special trucks the hard oddments will be transported from the villages.
