Representatives of Human Rights Center and Public Defender’s Office studied the conditions of juvenile prisoners

Representatives of HRC and the National Prevention Mechanism of the PDO monitored the conditions in the units for juvenile accused and convicted prisoners in the penitentiary establishment # 11 and in the closed penitentiary facility # 8.

The monitoring was carried out in the frame of the cooperation memorandum between PDO and HRC, which aimed to study the conditions in the penitentiary establishments for women and juvenile prisoners.

Project “Monitoring Conditions of Juvenile and Female Prisoners in Georgian Penitentiary” is implemented with financial support of the Embassy of the Republic of Bulgaria in Georgia. 

It aims to identify the problems in the penitentiary and rehabilitation facilities for women and juvenile prisoners and support improvement imprisonment terms for them. 

The monitoring results and findings will be reflected in the final report, which will be jointly prepared by Human Rights Center and the Prevention and Monitoring Department of the PDO.
