Rotation of regional governors

“Georgia is a small country, so I am familiar with the Shida Kartli region,” the new governor of Shida Kartli region Akaki Matchutadze said. He is meeting the colleagues and getting acquainted with the peculiarities of the region. The governor said he is not going to carry out personnel changes in the office. He did not answer any concrete answers to the questions of journalists.

“In Samtskhe-Javakheti region I know all corners and stones. Here I have been the governor only for two days and let us speak about details after I get acquainted with the situation,” Akaki Matchutadze said, who replaced Kakha Samkharadze on the position of the regional governor. More precisely, the governors shifted their places and Kakha Samkharadze is now governor in Samtskhe-Javakheti region.

The Head of the Government of Georgia PM Giorgi Kvirikashvili announced about the planned exchange of positions between Shida Kartli and Samtskhe-Javakheti regional governors. The edict was issued on March 30 and it was enforced on April 2.

The new regional governors in Samtskhe-Javakheti and Shida Kartli had first meetings with the municipality mayors and chairpersons of assemblies. Akaki Matchutadze was appointed to the position of the regional governor in Samtskhe-Javakheti in 2013, Kakha Samkharadze was on the position in Shida Kartli for one year.
