‘Kezera’s Boys’ Involved in Official Racketeering

‘Kezera’s Boys’ Involved in Official Racketeering

The financial police’s activities are called ‘official racketeering’ in the region of Kakheti. Individual entrepreneurs several times named concrete facts of illegal conduct by high officials of the financial police. Nonetheless, the department of Davit Kezerashvili continues his “successful job”.

Recently Telavi’s tax inspection examined the financial activities of LTD “Aisi”. According to official information violations were not found, nevertheless the inspection was closely followed by the Financial Police. “The Tax Police examines our work annually, but they never find any violations. They checked through our documents this year as well. Then the Financial Police arrived. They took all documentation and drew up a statement, according to which we have to pay 80 000 GEL. The act is sent to experts I do not know what will happen” - said LTD Aisi Director Guram berikashvili.

As we were told in the Tax Inspection, one of the officials who examined Aisi’s work Dato Buzarashvili is in pretrial detention, because of hiding violations in LTD Aisi and the other one, Tamaz Betsashvili, does not appear at work. According to general information he is hiding. The Head of the Telavi Tax Inspection Devi Devidze does not respond to the phone.

Kakhetian Financial Police director Davit Geladze agrees that there were violations in Aisi but would not dare to give a comment without the head of the press service Rusudan Donadze.

We contacted her. She refused to name those violations, shouting and swearing at us: “Tell me - who are you? You Kakhetian *** If I come to Kakheti I *** I will not forgive you this.”

We also contacted an employee of the ‘Gurjaani’ ice cream company. He does not want to state his name in public. He said that some interests were connected to LTD Aisi last summer. “One season they were making problems and because of this we had to close down for a while. You know how it happens - whoever has some interests, you will find the Financial Police at the spot. ‘Kezeras boys’ are there for this purpose only.” The Kakhetian NGO club also suspects that there are special interests at play in this case.

The Director of LTD Aisi Guram Berikashvili categorically denies this information.
