Nationals in Gori Can not Divide Students among Them

Town Administrative Board is Accused of Falsification the Lists

Shida Kartli regional administration united under student movement and local ‘National Movement’ still rival each other. This time reason for rival is the students’ employment lists, which were drawn separately by each of them. According to our information, these lists are totally different from each other.

The lists on students’ employment were drawn by ‘National Movement’s initiative, as the President declared. Initially the experiment was made by the capital city Authority. The target of this activity is to employ certain number of students in summer and salary must be quite acceptable. The employment spheres for these students are dusting the city, painting, school restoration, etc. They would not do any hard work.

Gori State University has already started this activity. Some time ago sessions on this issue were held, where the students, ‘wishing to take part in ‘National employment’ program’, were invited to and besides that, they also were to meet some requirements. According to our information, initially only those young people were inserted in the list, who was not student at all. Total number of the students on the list was more than 1 500.

We got in touch with Mrs. Klara Elchibegashvili, Rector of the Gori State University. According to her declaration, in fact, many unreal students were inserted in the list, which was introduced to her.

Klara Elchibegashvili: “Aforementioned problem really existed. Town Administrative Board and its chief Zviad Khmaladze sent lists to us and asked to check if real students from our university were inserted in the list. You are informed that our University accreditative council had learned each data in details before obtaining accreditation. So, all information is defined at our office. It was evident that many unreal students were inserted in the list. Corrected lists were sent back to town authority.”

The aforementioned information is commented by town Councilor, Zviad Khmaladze: “When we were announced to employ students and nearly 1 200 students came to us. They produced suitable documents and we registered them. Then we sent those documents to the Gori State University to check each of them. It turned out that 37 students had been dismissed from the University. It was a simple misunderstanding, what was eradicated by us.”

Zviad Khmaladze was appointed as a head of town local government only a month ago. Before that he had been Deputy of Governor Mikheil Kareli. According to the information spread, Zviad Khmaladze’s transferring to town local government served for Mikheil Kareli’s wish of having a reliable person in Gori local government. Previous to Zviad Khmaladze Kote Tavzarashvili was Deputy Governor, who became member of Local Government from Labor Party. Nowadays local Authority has no opposition in the Self-Government.

Gori ‘Righters’ leader Mamuka Phaniashvili has more detailed information about the students’ employment. According to him, they have not inserted those students in the list who are not close to ‘National Movement’.

Mamuka Phaniashvili: “The project is financed from the budget and the President’s Fund. The idea is to win the most of youth and students over. The idea is good, because initially it was announced that poor students were to be employed first. Finally the real situation, especially in our region is quite different. Those students, who supported no party and kept neutral position in political process, were refused to be employed. More than 2 500 students study at the Gori State University. Before that there were 4000 student, but the reform resulted in dismissal most of them. We have information that those, in project, are being bribed. The point is that the lists are estimated in Town Administrative Board. They tell the staff, working in governmental service, if they wish their student-children to be employed, and then parents’ wages must be reduced by 30-50 GEL. The interesting fact is that, while students from the capital are paid 300GEL, they are paid 200GEL in Gori, Where has the remained 100GEL been transferred to?”

As it was found out, ‘National Movement’ takes care of drawing up the list of the pupils who are going to join Patriot Camps too. According to Gori opposition parties, pupils and youth, who join the party, are psychologically treated. “All these are part of pre-election campaign of the Government”-adds ‘Righter’ from Gori.
