November 2, 2007
Special Forces of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs were throwing octahedral concrete nails for the demonstrators who were traveling to Tbilisi from Samegrelo Region.

Samegrelo population started preparation to attend the demonstration on November 2 in Tbilisi a day before.

By 9:00 AM people learned that the drivers of the hired cars refused to take them to Tbilisi. All kind of transport means were hindered. Law enforcers seized car registration papers and driving licenses from bus drivers two days before. Zugdidi-Tbilisi train was removed from the railway line and they started repair works of it. They closed box-offices of central bus and railway stations. At 10:00 AM there was no public transportation in the area.

By 12:00 somebody cut the wheels of a mini-bus of the political movement “Tavisufleba” that was standing in front of the Zugdidi Police Station. Video-camera of the press-service department shot those people who cut the wheels. However, the police have not suspected any one for the crime yet.

In parallel to it, supporters of the demonstration are gathering in front of the political movement office “Tavisufleba” and are looking for the ways to travel to Tbilisi. Although time-by-time, representatives of the Special Forces approach and demand to speak with them; oppositionists did not obey their orders and went nowhere. There was attempt to detain Tengiz Gergedava, the chairman of the regional organization of “Tavisufleba”.

People from Tsalenjikha district joined the members of the United Opposition by 1:00 PM. Policemen detained Irakli Sherozia on the central motor-way from Tsalenjikha who was driving his father and relatives to Zugdidi in order to join other people traveling to Tbilisi. However, four hours later he was released and seized of driving license.

2:00 PM

By 2:00 PM, Konstantine Gamsakhurdia, leader of the “Tavisufleba” arrived in Samegrelo region. His supporters in seven buses and several cars accompanied him. On his way from Abasha to Senaki Gamsakhurdia traveled along the road with welded nails on it. The leaders of the political movement saw how people were throwing the nails from the cars moving in front of them. One of the authors of similar plan was Davit Darsmelidze, the head of the Abasha Police Department.

3:00 PM

Representatives of the political movement “Tavisfuleba” remained without buses in Senaki. Almost every wheel of their buses was cut by sharp things that were thrown on the central motor way.

The biggest obstacle was on Senaki-Zugdidi high-way. The situation became so tense that the personal guard of Konstantine Gamsakhurdia demanded the Security Department within the Interior Ministry to protect the safety of politician officially.

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia: “We are paving our way through struggle. They do not want us to arrive in Zugdidi. Patrol police cars stopping us all the time. Nearly seven cars without numbers are also chasing us from where people are throwing welded nails on our way. Thus we face some dangerous situations.”

5:00 PM

Konstantine Gamsakhurdia held a special briefing in their office in Zugdidi at 5:00 PM. “Here, Zugdidi local government has turned into a gang of bandits, thieves, hooligans and murderers. It is historical time now. I call upon all residents of Zugdidi and the whole Samegrelo region to go to Tbilisi. We will reach the capital by all means. The Rose Revolution ends its existence with Nail revolution!” stated Kinstantine Gamsakhurdia.

7:00 PM

Despite the obstacles the car colony of the political movement ‘Tavisufleba” started from Zugdidi by 7:00 PM. Before leaving the city, Zaza Gorozia, the regional gubernator, Aleksandre Kobalia, the district governor and Vakhtang Gabelia, an official from the Department of Constitutional Security were following them. After that the cars of the Special Forces were controlling the cars of the opposition.
