Irakli Managadze

On April 11 at 6:00 pm nation-wide disobedience was declared in Tbilisi. Levan Gachechiladze, one of the opposition leaders, announced it to the demonstrators in front of the Parliament.

Levan Gachechiladze stated that every day from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm protest demonstrations will organize disobedience in Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue and in front of the building of the 1st Channel by marching in the streets. After that the demonstrators will join the rest people in front of the parliament building and the rally will go on.

Gachechiladze called upon the people to establish disobedience committees in the towns in order to demonstrate their protest to the entire world.

Levan Gachechiladze said: “We want to destroy the everyday routine of Mikheil Saakashvili. That is the point and anarchy is not the point. We do not need to occupy any building. We want to gain our country back.”

The opposition leader stated that unless the president accepts their demands the disobedience will increase.

The marchers will move towards the building of 1st Channel and Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue. The demonstrators will block Kostava Street and Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue.

The march will start from the Tbilisi Public School # 1 and will move towards the 1st Channel; this part of the demonstration will be led by the Alliance for Georgia and Levan Gachechiladze and the marchers will block Kostava Street.

A second march will be gathered close to the youth palace in Rustaveli Avenue and will be led by the Conservative Party, the Movement for the United Georgia and the People’s Party. They will move towards Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue.

Kakha Kukava, an opposition leader, stated at the demonstration that the rest of the political leaders will remain in Rustaveli Avenue and will block the central street.

The streets mentioned above will be blocked every day and at 9:00 pm the demonstrations will be organized in front of the parliament building.

In addition, after April 11 informational demonstrations will be organized every day at the same time--3:00 pm--in Rustaveli Avenue, Ketevan Tsamebuli Avenue and Kostava Street.
