Davit Gamkrelidze, leader of the New Rights, was invited to the TV-Program “Pozitsia” at TV Company Rustavi 2; he told the anchor Nino Shubladze: “It is shame that a fan-club of Vano Merabishvili, Minister of Internal Affairs, is opened on the Facebook.” People might have thought that Gamkrelidze was joking but the Minister really has many fans.

Fans appreciate the activities of the first policeman of the country and think that he is really a key person in Georgia. It was particularly strange for us to discover journalists among the fans of Merabishvili. Among them is Nino Shubladze, anchor of the TV Program “Pozitsia” and head of the news-room at the Rustavi 2.

Rusudan Vashakidze, journalist for the “Pozitsia” is also a member of the fan-club. Journalist Davit Paichadze never hid his sympathy to Mikheil Saakashvili.

Recently, Russian journalist Oleg Panfilov has been often interviewed by Georgian TV Companies; he usually assesses the Russian-Georgian relationships. Panfilov is also member of the fan-club.

Eka Kvesitadze, anchor of the TV Program “Accents” at the Public Broadcasting, tries to convince the population in her impartiality but she is also a member of Vano Merabishvili’s fun-club. Nobody will get surprised if s/he will find Levan Ramishvili, head of Freedom Institute and Tea Tutberidze, activist of the youth movement Kmara” among fans.

Vano Merabishvili should be proud that Giorgi Gamsakhurdia, son of the first president of Georgia and Degi Dudaev, son of the first president of Chechnya, are his fans too.

Ambassador of Georgia to Germany Levan Duchidze and former minister of economical development of Georgia Giorgi Arveladze are members of the fun-club. Nodar Ladaria, correspondent of the newspaper “24 Hours” also adores the Minister of Internal Affairs. Giga Nasaridze, insonifier of the “Evening Show with Sandro”, (a TV Show which is presented by the donkey), is also fan of Merabishvili.

We cannot claim that the fan-club of Vano Merabishvili is very numerous but one fact that impressed us is that most of fun-club members are young people of the same age as Sandro Girgvliani, who was murdered by high-ranking officials of the MIA.
