Dust-Woman Claims Labor Teacher Was Hitting Axe on Her

February 9, 2010

Tamta Kakauridze, Zestaponi

Former teacher of public school in the village of Kveda Sakari in Zestaponi district Zaal Chichinadze have been requesting to be re-employed at school for several months already. He claims that the school director fired him without grounds. However, teachers of the school categorically oppose his re-employment. Dust-woman of the school made a testimony against him: “Zaal Chichinadze rushed into the room with an axe in his hand; he was cursing me; he had crazy face and threatened me with death unless I left the area. After that, he revenged himself upon a piano and nailed it on the floor.

Technical manager and labor teacher of the Kveda Sakari public school Zaal Chichinadze was fired on July 27, 2009. On December 10, 2009 Zaal Chichinadze appealed Zestaponi district police station and city court simultaneously. District police station has not started investigation yet. Court hearing was postponed several times.

“We are studying various materials on this fact. As for investigation, we cannot start it without concrete evidence,” said inspector-investigator of Zestaponi district police station Kakha Leladze.

Attorney of Zaal Chichinadze Nino Vacheishvili stated that Chichinadze was illegally fired by school interim director Avtandil Arabidze. “Zaal Chichinadze was technical manager of the school and he was supervising dust-women who did not do their duties. Zaal Chichinadze rebuked school director and Avtandil Arabidze felt himself insulted for what he fired Chichinadze. Avtandil Arabidze hid long-term agreement between him and Chichinadze (2007-2012). When we requested they handed false agreement which does not have signature of Zaal Chichinadze. Dates of the agreement are also changed.”

Interim director Avtandil Arabidze states the accusations of Zaal Chichinadze are groundless and categorically deny them. “Zaal Chichinadze was appointed on the position of technical manager based on his personal application on October 1, 2005 and we signed short-term agreement with him before October 1, 2006. It continues for 3 years. We have never signed long-term agreement with him. As for his dismissal, it happened because of abusing his power. He often came to school drunken and insulted and assaulted dust woman Nargiz Guruli. Then, he categorically demanded me to fire Nargizi Guruli from school; he often rebuked me why I had made the school to keep his ugly child. He spoke about the child of Nargizi Guruli who has cerebral palsy. I protected poor people. I do not want this man to be back in our school for his past behavior. It will be serious shame for our school.”

There are two explanation letters of Nargizi Guruli in case materials where she describes all incidents between her and Zaal Chichinadze. She requested the Council of Trustees of the school to study her problem and take corresponding measures.

Extract from Nargizi Guruli’s explanation letter: “Zaal Chichinadze has insulted and assaulted me twice. He rushed into the room cursing with an axe in his hand; he had crazy face; if I had not avoided him, he could kill me. After that he revenged himself upon piano and nailed it to the floor.”

“The piano was so damaged, that we invited a specialist from Zestaponi to repair it. Keyboard and mechanisms needed repairing; we paid 70 GEL from Zaal Chichinadze’s salary,” said Avtandil Arabidze.

Zaal Chichinadze requests to rehabilitate his rights and to pay salary for his missed hours. Teachers of the school state if Zestaponi district court satisfies his request, they will appeal to Tbilisi Appeal Court.
