Kobuleti Police Detains Abashidze’s Supporter

On May 31, 2004, police detained Emir Gogitidze, one of Aslan Abshidze’s supporters. Law enforcements charged him with illegally keeping, of a hand grenade(a so called pinteapple). According to the statements made by Gogitidze’s relatives, the only reason for his detention is the fact that he is a supporter of Aslan Abashidze (the former head of the Autonomous Republic of Adjara). The detainee states that he actively participated in the meetings organized by Aslan Abshidze’s supporters but he had never taken part in dispersals. He demands  that authorities publicly show the images in which he is dispersing the people. The Kobuleti Prosecutor’s Office is running the investigation of Gogitidze’s case.
