European Union Information Center Will Open in Parliament

Tbilisi. 28.07.04. Media News.

David Bakradze, the Chairman of Integration into Europe Committee of Parliament, hosted Sylvie Pantz, the leader of a new mission working on the rule of law in Georgia.

The abovementioned mission has been granted a one year mandate, and the purpose of its work is to assist the Georgian government in solving the urgent tasks existing in the criminal law system.

As David Bakradze stated in an interview with Media News, Parliament will be actively involved in the work of the mission. In September, members of Legal Issues Committee and Integration into Europe Committee of Parliament will meet with experts of the mission and issues related to the mission work will be discussed.

David Bakradze also received Jeff Wood, an EU expert, who is coordinating the Parliament’s support program. At the meeting, issues related to the opening of the EU Information Center and Monitoring Center for the draft laws of the Parliament were discussed.
