Non-Governmental Organizations Support the Editor-in-Chief of Sakhalkho Gazeti

Gori. 03.08.04.Media News.

The supporters of Revaz Okruashvili, the editor-in-chief of Sakhalkho Gazeti (“The People’s Newspaper,” ) conducted a demonstration in Gori. They demanded the release of Revaz Okruashvili and demanded that the government declare that law enforcement officials detained the editor-in-chief illegally.

As participants of the action say, the arrest of Revaz Okruashvili is linked with his activity and articles published in Sakhalkho Gazeti and not with realization of drugs.

The members of Liberty Institute and “Kmara” have also joined the protest.

We would like to remind you that the officers of the Regional Police Department of Shida Kartlli detained Revaz Okruashvili on August 2, 2004 and he was charged with selling drugs. During the searching process, police officers found drugs.
