Street Protest of the Personnel of Television Company Adjara

Batumi. 06.08.04. Media News

The personnel of television company Adjara held a protest action in front of the television demanding the renewal of broadcasting. They claim that the government does not show willingness to solve the problem, and to stop the broadcasting means the death of the company.

While the personnel was expressing protest the management of the television held a press-conference and stated that the management does not support the protest actions.

According to Merab Karanadze, the director of the television the local government is negotiating with “Global Ka”, which demands Adjara Television to pay amount of money unacceptable for the television.

We would like to remind the reader that Koba davitashvili, Member of Parliament gave three-days term to the local government for solving the problem of the television; the term expires today. In case the problem is not solved Davitashvili threatens to hold protest actions.

Adjara Television ceased broadcasting on August 2, 2004. The reason is the debt of 220,000 EUR to the French Company “Global Ka’.
