Approximately 200 Girls Under Age are Involved in Prostitution

 1531 adults (engaged in criminal activities) have been registered in Tbilisi by Adults’ reception, orientation and prophylactic center of Tbilisi located in Gldani district.
Among those juveniles are residents of Tbilisi as well as visitors from different districts of Georgia.
According to the statistics, 426 are girls and 1105 boys among those registered adults. 80% of the children under age are drug addicts involved in different crimes and approximately 200 girls (40% of the girls) are engaged in prostitution at hotels and saunas.
According to the chairperson of the Center Tsitso Kikalishvili, the girls start prostitution aged 9-10. The average age of juvenile prostitutes is 9 to 18.
“According to our research results, the parents of those children are mostly informed about the activities of their children, though they explain it with the hard social-economic situation,-” stated Kikalishvili
