Ossetians Kidnapped Giorgi Khatoshvili

Gori. 24.08.04. Media News. According to the statement of Alexander Sukhitashvili, the head of Shida Kartli regional police department, no one contacted him regarding the  kidnapping of Giorgi Khatoshvili, a resident of Kareli.
Sukhitashvili stated that there was information  about  Ossetian separatists taking Giorgia Khatoshvili hostage about two days ago. The whereabouts of Khatoshvili remains unknown.
It was further reported  that Ossetians kidnapped Mr Khatoshvili in exchange for the return of Genadi Bakaev, an  Ossetian national, the former policeman of the Tskhinvali police force.
Genadi Bakaev was detained by the Georgian special forces several weeks ago for illegally transiting weapons.
“The Ossetian side has not contacted the police of Shida Kartli to start any negotiations”stated Sukhitashvili.
