IDs of the Soviet Era finally Become Void

1 September 2004 is the deadline for using ID cards which were issued during the Soviet era and citizens of Georgia, who have been using Soviet passports up until now, will have to apply to the regional offices of the Interior Ministry to receive their new national identification cards.
According to statistics 18% of Georgia's population are still holders of Soviet passports.
