Clash between Special Task Units and Traders of the Batumi Central Market

Today at about 07h00 Adjarian police special units appeared on the territory of the Batumi Central Market and used force in trying to remove people from the building.  Witnesses reported the use of sticks and chairs to beat the people which caused serious injuries and several persons being taken to hospital.
Traders are still staying on the territory of the market and say that they will not move to the new market place.
According to Koba Davitashvili, Member of Parliament, the action of the law enforcement officials was illegal. The issue of the interests of the traders is being discussed in the court.  Currently, there is still no decision.
