Construction of New Jails Has Started

Tbilisi. Media News. Pre-detained Juvenile prisoners will be taken to a new European standard jail, the construction of which has already begun.

The construction of the jail for pre-detained women prisoners will start in a few days time  on the territory of the Women’s Colony.

According to Giorgi Papuashvili, Minister of Justice, it will be possible in 7 months’ time to activate #6 jail located on the nearby territory of Rustavi, which will be turned into a jail of European standards and is considered suitable for 800 prisoners.

One more jail will be built in Kutaisi and 1500 prisoners will be placed in it. Kutaisi jail will be built with state funds.
