Street Traders in Kutaisi Do Not Give up Their Places

Kutaisi. 14.09.04. Media News. Street traders in Kutaisi put up resistance to the officers of the City Administrative Inspection and Renovation Service due to the fact that street trading has been banned.

According to Gia Giorgadze, Kutaisi City Mayor, street trading has been banned at the entrance of the tunnel located on the nearby territory of the Trade Centre in the centre of the city and renovation works are underway. This was the reason for the street traders’ dissatisfaction.

As for the confrontation between the officers of the Administrative Inspection and the street traders the mayor states that he does not have any information regarding this fact. Although, he continued, “if this fact is confirmed and street traders actually put up physical resistance to the officers of the Administrative Inspection,a criminal case will be launched against all street traders, as nobody will be excused putting physical resistance to the law enforcers.”

To remember, the Administrative Inspection made street traders leave the entrance of the tunnel located on the territory of the Trade Centre a month ago and promised them to provide them with places on the territory of the market, though only some of the street traders have been given such places. Other traders resumed trading at the old location, which was the reason for the above-mentioned incident.
