Families Below Poverty Line to Receive Financial Aid

Tbilisi. Media News. The Ministry of Labour, Health and Social Welfare is said to be allocated approximately 100 million Gel from the 2005 state budget.

According to Lado Chipashvili, minister for labour, social welfare and health, a major part of the mentioned money will be spent on social programmes.

The minister states that the number of families living below the poverty line should be diminished. To that end, 55 Gel of financial aid will be offered to families. This basic amount will be raised according to the number of family members.
Currently, about 250 000 families in Georgia are affected.

However, as Lado Chipashvili notes, the families deemed eligible will be selected restrictively.
